Good News!!!!! We’re excited to announce The Neat Streets Conference 2022 will be going ahead this year on Thursday 3rd of March 10AM-3:45PM. The Neat Streets Programme is now in its eleventh year of operation, but we are particularly excited to celebrate and mark our 10 year anniversary with this special event at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin as we were unable to do so during the pandemic.
Four students and a teacher from each of our 33 participating secondary schools are invited to attend the event.
The conference enables students and teachers from various participating schools to discuss how best to tackle the issues of litter and waste and provided a forum for schools to share action plan ideas and experiences. Teacher and student groups are facilitated separately for much of the event so as to provide separate and focused platforms for each group to learn independently from An Taisce and their peers. Attendees also hear from students who successfully completed the programme in the previous year who went on to be awarded the Green Flag for Litter & Waste. Participants learn how the school journeyed through the Neat Streets programme; from initially registering for the programme, conducting their baseline survey, to implementing their anti-litter and waste action plan (which involved purchasing bins and funding various competitions with the Neat Streets grant), introducing recycling and composting, conducting litter picks in the local community, completing the follow-on survey and finally achieving the Neat Streets and Green Flag awards.
