On completion of the baseline survey, the Neat Streets programme makes a €500 grant available for each participating school to apply for. The grants are used by committees in multiple ways including; purchasing of bins, treats for student action days, funding prizes for competitions and funding trips to recycling plants and landfills to name but a few. The grant is hugely welcomed by committees and coordinating teachers as it provides funding which would not otherwise be available to complete action plan events and gives a great boost of morale to the committees. This grant is often matched by funding from the school’s own resources to further support the programme and to meet costs above the €500 threshold of the grant.
